I WAS pleased that the Rt. Hon. George Foulkes MP had taken the trouble to write to the Radcliffe Times (Letters, January 6) regarding the dreadful events in Asia, encouraging us all to contribute to this worthy cause. Admirable, Mr Foulkes.
Sadly, the Rt. Hon. Mr Foulkes then decided to don his MP's cap and slag-off a member of the Opposition, accusing Michael Howard of being "economical with the truth".
Well, of course he is, Mr Foulkes. He is an MP, so it's hardly surprising.
What is more disturbing is that whilst people all over the world are still mourning the loss of their friends and relatives, and volunteers are working day and night, the Rt. Hon. Mr Foulkes finds it necessary to play his pathetic party politics.
He should be ashamed of himself.
A. GAFFNEY,
Radcliffe.
