THE Rt. Hon. George Foulkes MP (Letters, January 6) accused Michael Howard of being "economical with the truth" in his support of victims of the tsunami because of the actions of the Conservative Government in 1979 - 26 years ago!

First of all, who is the Rt. Hon. George Foulkes MP? He certainly isn't the MP for this area. and secondly, how could anyone with the slightest bit of common decency even think of making political capital out of such an awful event?

For those readers who don't know who Mr Foulkes is, a search on the internet will reveal that he is the MP for Carrick, Cumnock and Doon Valley.

Incidentally, before anyone jumps to conclusions, I have never voted Conservative in my life and, unlike Mr Foulkes, I have no political agenda in writing this letter.

I just can not believe how anyone could stoop so low and still have the nerve to sign himself "Rt. Hon". Says it all about our current lot of politicians, doesn't it.
