CLITHEROE have finally completed the signing of Craig Sargeson.

But the former Rossendale United hot shot, who has been rescued from the Witton Albion subs' bench by Blues boss Paul Byron, is under no pressure to repeat his previous goalscoring exploits just yet.

Byron said: "I'm not expecting him to set the place alight because he's not played much football this season.

"I was interested in him when I was at Bamber Bridge and I've signed him for his previous record, but this season has been very disjointed for him.

"He's been dying to come here for weeks now but he will be a bit ring rusty, so we'll have to bear with that."

Sargeson's registration has still to be cleared for him to take his place in the side at Brigg Town on Saturday, but Byron was hoping to sort that situation out tonight.

And he is also looking for a second successive away victory following last week's 1-0 win at Kidsgrove.

"It wasn't the prettiest of games because of the weather but we showed we can dig results out as well as play football," said Byron.

"It showed how enthusiastic the lads are and that's what has pleased me most since I joined."
