THE Christmas break has not had any impact on Bury Squash Club's remarkable season as the first game of the new year provided just the kind of display that has become their trademark.

Rochdale 4's were the visitors and their hopes went west just like the rest of the division.

For once though, Bury did not make their customary flying start as first up Sam Leach suffered a rare setback, going down 3-1 to Simon Anderson.

From there, however, it was a comfortable night for the home side.

Second on court, Steve Creegan maintained his winning run of form of recent weeks with a battling four-setter over Gould before Eddie Black secured his expected win.

Bury's number one did win in three sets but was given a work out by his opponent Brown.

Captain, Stu Garnett also had a straight sets victory but met with less resistance, dropping just four points in the match.

Garnett's victory was enough to clinch the tie for Bury but anchorman Paul Harrison put further gloss on the nights work with a 3-1 win in the final game.

With a sizeable cushion ahead of the second placed team, Bury are extremely well placed for glory especially as there is currently no sign in their performances of any weakness.
