THE LEAD singer may only be 12 and the whole band have to be in early on school nights...

But Fylde rock-punk band - Outl4w - are set to take the UK by storm this month after being invited to perform on the BBC's flagship kids show 'Blue Peter'.

The four-piece band - brothers Robert, 12, William, 13, and Jack Bentham, 10, along with drummer Stuart Newburn, 15, all of St Annes - will feature on the 5pm show on Monday, January 24.

They originally formed last May but quickly attracted industry attention after coming runner-up in a competition organised by London-based XF"adio to find the UK's best 'School Rock' band in October.

Dad and manager, John said: "This is a great opportunity for the lads.

"They aren't signed to a label at the minute but have been getting a lot of attention since the finals of the XFM Radio competition.

"Then someone from Blue Peter called one day and asked if they'd be available for the show.

"At the moment they're all taking it in their stride and aren't phased by the attention.

"But I think they'll be very excited as the date gets closer."

Since the competition Outl4w have played dozens of live gigs and are set to squeeze in two more dates before their Blue Peter debut - playing at Beat, Corporation Street, Blackpool, on January 14, and the Hansom Cab, Lytham, on January 22.

Their music has also been used by Sony Playstation as part of an on-line promotion after the boy's put a demo together of their work and posted it on their website.

John said: "They may only be schoolboys but they are so professional every time they take to the stage.

"Audiences so far have been blown away by them."
