A MAN was driving so badly after his works Christmas party that someone reported him to the police then followed him, a court was told

Blackburn magistrates heard that Shane Thomas Patrick Killaway, 34, was driving at no more than 15 mph as he left Whalley without any lights on.

He failed to stop after colliding with a parked car before turning into the main road towards Accrington where he continued at about 20 mph, the court was told.

He had just under three times the legal alcohol limit in his breath, the court heard.

Killaway, of Manor Street, Accrington, admitted driving with excess alcohol, failing to stop after an accident, driving without insurance and without a licence.

He was banned from driving for two years and fined a total of £300.

Andrew Church-Taylor, defending, said Killaway could not explain why he had driven to the works do or why had had attempted to drive home.

He said the married father-of-two was of previous good character and a voluntary youth worker who gives up his time willingly and freely for the good of the community.
