ROSSENDALE Family Forum is providing free instruments and tuition to local children bands and schools.
The group has created a musical bank for people with unwanted or unusual musical instruments to pass them on to others who can't afford to buy them.
Collection points are to be set up all over Rossendale so that people can donate an instrument.
A loans system with a small £1 deposit per week will mean many more people can have access to an instrument.
In addition, the group will be keeping a database of people who want to sell or pass on directly an instrument - matching them up with a child or group who need them.
The group are also looking to apply for funding to buy 20 new instruments for loan through schools.
