WITH reference to the letter (Feb 10) from the disabled person, we were sorry to hear of their plight.
The 'we' is a newly formed independent group BADDAG: Blackburn and Darwen Disabled Access Group.
We are there to actively work to ensure that the disabled, be that physical or sensory, and the infirm get proper access, which means there are no physical barriers or barriers of understanding to people's needs.
We aim to ensure that the Disability Discrimination Act is properly implemented so that we can all share in the work, retail and service opportunities everyone expects.
To answer the letter writer's problem, we suggest they contact the social services and ask for SHIELD's address or phone number because we feel SHIELD can help.
Or if not get to us and we will search for them.
GRAHAM CARTER, Secretary of Blackburn and Darwen Disabled Access Group (BADDAG), Kingsway, Lower Darwen. Tel 01254 262309; e-mail grahamcarter@hotmail.com
