THREE primary school youngsters who set up a charity group to help the victims of the tsunami are planning to spend the rest of the year fundraising for various charities.

Charlotte Kiernan, Jessica Pickford and James Lindsay, from Our Lady of Lourdes Primary School in Rudgwick Drive, Prestwich, returned from their Christmas holidays and told their teachers they were determined to help.

So far, they have managed to raise £330 through a Bad Hair Day, cake and bun stalls, non uniform day and even selling toothbrushes and toothpaste.

But that was just the beginning and the trio are turning the fundraising into a long-term project "Save our world" to continue raising money throughout the year for various causes.

Headteacher Donna Kiernan said: "I am really impressed because it is all their own idea. I think it reflects their maturity and sensitivity, even more so because they are turning it into a long-term task."
