TONY Grant insists Burnley have nothing to fear from their FA Cup replay at Ewood Park next week.

The Clarets were handed the ultimate incentive to beat Blackburn on their own patch after yesterday's FA Cup draw handed the winner a plumb home tie against Leicester City in the quarter finals.

And Grant, who came out on top in his personal duel with Robbie Savage, reckons Steve Cotterill's side still have a great chance of putting a foot in the last four.

He said: "The first rule about a derby game is don't lose it. After Sunday's game I heard their manager, Mark Hughes, saying they had done their job, but I think he will find it's a totally different game down at Ewood Park.

"We have seen Blackburn play now and there isn't too much to be scared of, so I definitely think their job is far from done."

Midfielder Grant, 30, felt the Clarets achieved their number one aim of stifling their Premiership opponents to earn a second bite at the cherry.

He added: "I know what it's like from my days playing for Everton against Liverpool. You are desperate to send your fans to work on Monday morning with their heads held high and that's what we did.

"If there wasn't so much at stake there might have been more goalmouth action, but players are scared to leave their positions and that's purely down to how important the game is.

"Let's have it right - the last time the two teams met Blackburn battered us. But we are progressing slowly and to be disappointed not to beat them shows just how far we have come in four years."

Meanwhile, Burnley boss Steve Cotterill was this morning hoping to speak to transfer target Ade Akinbiyi. As we revealed yesterday, the Clarets have had their £600,000 offer for the bustling striker accepted by Championship rivals Stoke City.

Akinbiyi, whose transfer fees total more than £12million, has already discussed a move to Sheffield United with Blades boss Neil Warnock. And I understand that may still be his favoured destination after demanding a move away from the Britannia Stadium.

However, Cotterill remains hopeful his persuasive nature can convince the 30-year-old hitman his future lies at Turf Moor. And snapping up the former Crystal Palace, Leicester City and Wolves ace would be the perfect boost ahead of tomorrow's tough Championship game at Derby County.

The Clarets are already down on numbers for the trip to Pride Park, with Cotterill confirming that skipper Frank Sinclair faces "two or three weeks" on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.

Fellow defender John McGreal is also struggling to shake off a back injury for tomorrow's game - the first of four in nine days for Cotterill's side.
