TWO Bury men have completed a mountainous task to raise £5,500 for the charity Scope.
Toby Partington and Michael Fish have just returned from Tanzania where they climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, walking through rainforest, African savannah and barren moonscapes towards the summit.
Toby said: "On summit day, we got up just before midnight to begin the climb to the first of Kilimanjaro's peaks, Gilman's Point, and from there pushed onto its highest point, Uhuru Peak.
"It was a day of about 18 hours walking, struggling with tiredness and altitude sickness because we were 19,340 ft above sea level. The highlight was seeing the sun rise above cloud level at the highest peak.
"We would like to thank everyone who helped with our fundraising efforts throughout 2004."
Scope offers help and support to people with cerebral palsy and their families.
