Department of Trade and Industry (DTi) officials will be stopping off in Bury next month to promote the use of renewable energy.
As part of a north west tour, they will visit Woodfield's Retail Park on March 3 and 4.
In a survey conducted earlier this month by the DTi, only one per cent correctly identified electricity generation as the biggest cause of the UK's greenhouse gases.
The study also revealed that television was the one household item many residents in Greater Manchester cannot live without. Sixteen per cent of respondents claimed television was the item they would miss the most, with 12 per cent voting for the washing machine and ten per cent for household lighting.
