Group member, Mrs Jean Hill, spoke to St. Paul's Ladies Group at their meeting on February 15, on the theme of food and drink.

She gave a "whirlwind tour" of the history of food from prehistoric times to the present day, showing how foods we take for granted were introduced to this country. She contrasted the practises of earlier times, when people produced their own food by cultivating the land, with today's supermarket and on-line shopping.

Mrs Hill then recited a number of amusing, food-related poems, including I'd Like to be a Teabag and I Hate Greens!! There was also a short quiz.

Mrs Doris Hillary thanked Mrs Hill for a very enjoyable evening.

Before Mrs Hill's talk, the ladies discussed arrangements for their Spring Fair, to be held in St. Paul's Church Parish Room on Saturday, March 5, between 10am & 2pm.
