BRAINY youngsters will be showing off their artistic endeavours at Brandlesholme Community Library on Sunday.

Residents are invited to view the work done by the library's weekly youth group under the council's BRAIN project (Bury Reading And Information Network) which aims to making reading more fun.

The event runs from 1pm to 3pm and will be opened by the Mayor and Mayoress of Bury, Councillors Barry and Sharon Briggs.

Jeanie Linden-Bardsley, BRAIN project leader, said: "The group has produced some exciting pieces of art which have been inspired by the books that members have read.

"Participants have taken part in group reading, discussion and debate to gain knowledge of various topics which are reflected in their works of art. All the work which has been produced and books used will be on display."

Each of the young group members has also produced a portfolio which illustrates their experience of working on the project.

Also on display will be three pieces of panelled artwork which they produced to mark Holocaust Memorial Day.
