HOLY Cross College in Bury has added special needs to their BA/BSc combined honours degree programme.
The course, entitled Special Needs - The Inclusive Society, covers areas including physical and intellectual disabilities, the range of learning difficulties, ethical issues and carers support. It is targeted at students who have a genuine interest in and empathy with people with special needs. It is particularly suited to those wishing to work in education, health or social and community work.
Subject study commences in September and recruitment is taking place now as the course is expected to be very popular. Students choose two subjects from a choice of ten on offer at the college and special needs can be combined with subjects such as psychology, sociology, health or education.
John Barton, director of adult programmes at Holy Cross commented: "Our partnership with Liverpool Hope University College, coupled with research into local demand for subjects, has enabled us to extend our higher education portfolio".
