A 31-YEAR-OLD Bury woman was indecently assaulted after getting into a car which she believed was a private hire taxi.

She entered the back of a dark green saloon car in St John's Street, Manchester, at 12.45am on Sunday (20) to make her way home after enjoying a night out with friends in the city centre.

The car travelled along the road a short distance before two men got in and sat either side of the woman. The vehicle continued to Trafford Park, where the two men indecently assaulted her before she was thrown from the car. Later, the woman was helped by a couple who called for another taxi which took her home to Bury.

Detective Chief Inspector Jane Antrobus said: "This was a particularly vicious attack and the victim has been left extremely traumatised. The woman was pushed out of the car and was abandoned in the Trafford Park area. A couple in the area fortunately came across the woman and helped her. We are particularly interested in speaking to this couple who are described as a white, stocky man and a woman."

DCI Antrobus continued: "The woman had enjoyed a night out with friends in the city centre and thought that she was getting into a legitimate taxi to return home. The men took advantage of her and we are doing all we can to trace them."

One of the attackers was Asian, tall, of medium build and with short dark hair. He was smart and wore dark clothing with a dark waist-length zipped jacket. The second man was scruffy, shorter and had a larger build. The driver is described as Asian with black hair, unshaven, with facial stubble.
