BLACKBURN Rovers' out of favour midfielder Jonathon Douglas is at the centre of a transfer tug of war.

As I understand it, a couple of clubs from the Championship have contacted Rovers in the last few days about the possibility of signing Douglas and manager Mark Hughes has paved the way for the Republic of Ireland international to go out on loan.

"A couple of clubs have been in touch with us about Jonathon and we have made it clear to Jon and his agent that we are prepared to let him go on a short-term basis," said Rovers' chief executive John Williams today.

"We're now waiting for Jon to let us know which club he fancies joining then we'll try and sort something out from there."

Douglas was pulled out of Rovers' trip to Dubai earlier this week to help speed up a move and he's likely to join a club in the Championship at some point over the weekend.

The 23-year-old has endured a frustrating season so far, having failed to nail down a regular place in Hughes' starting eleven.

He appeared to have made the breakthrough last season when he played in 14 games under Graeme Souness during the second half of the campaign as Rovers successfully staved off the threat of relegation.

That led to him being offered a new deal last summer, which he signed, but he's barely had a look in since, so much so that his last appearance in the first team came in the ill-fated Carling Cup defeat to Bournemouth in September.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for the likeable Irishman. Hughes sees him as a valuable squad member but the player himself will not be content to take a back seat for ever as he enters a critical stage in his career.

In the meantime, Rovers have extended the deadline for season ticket holders wishing to claim their seats for the FA Cup replay against Burnley next week.

Season ticket holders now have until 5.30pm today to claim their seats for the eagerly anticipated tie.

Tickets are still available in all areas for Rovers fans with a history of purchasing tickets.

The Ewood ticket office will also be open on Sunday between 11.00am and 3.00pm, as well as the scheduled Saturday opening of 9.00am to 4.00pm.

February 28, the final day of ticket sales.

So far, Rovers have sold around 13,000 tickets for the game and Burnley were expected to sell their full allocation of 7,000 by this morning.

Some Rovers fans have encountered delays when trying to book tickets via the ticket hotline but chief executive John Williams has explained that's due to the security measures which have had to be put in place for the game.

"It's a much slower process than usual because we are having to check everyone against the database. That's something we said we would do in the interests of safety and that's what we have done," said Williams.

Fans are reminded that next week's replay is not being televised.
