HOUSEHOLDERS in Prestwich are being urged to get on with their spring cleaning - and have a clear out for cancer.
The Cancer Research UK shop in Bury New Road is encouraging people to take part in a nationwide campaign by the charity to help raise vital funds.
People are asked to delve into their CD collections, bookshelves, lofts and wardrobes and part with their unused, unloved or unwanted items for a good cause.
Shop manager Roz Burgess said: "Most people are holding on to items they never use. Whether it's an impulse buy that's never been worn, a toy or game that the kids have grown out of or an unwanted gift that's still sitting in the box, we'd love to get our hands on it."
Roz said that a typical bag of good quality clothing and homewares is worth as much as £30 to the charity shop, which results in money they can spend on finding new ways of preventing, treating and curing cancer.
She added: "Just imagine what what we could if everyone made a contribution."
Anyone having a clear out can take their goods to the Cancer Research UK shop, near the entrance to the Longfield Centre precinct, between 9am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday.
