Sedgley Park Colts 12, LSH Colts 22: Liverpool St Helens scored the first try of the match but, with the bitingly cold wind in their favour, Sedgley built up a half-time lead, Number 8 Leyton Taylor scoring both tries and John Lilley adding a conversion.
Sedgley impressed early in the second half and had chances to extend their lead, which were not taken.
The game became increasingly scrappy, slack refereeing of the tackle area and of midfield offside causing much frustration to both teams.
But in the end the visitors scored two good tries through their backs and deserved their win.
Sedgley, lacking some of their more influential players, will not be too dissatisfied with their performance.
