BURY BOYS U15s 1, STOCKPORT 4: A a run of three successive victories against tough opposition Bury slumped to an embarrassing defeat to an average Stockport team.

Even though Bury had a depleted squad there was no excuse for the teams lack of commitment and skill shown, which made it easy for Stockport.

The first 20 minutes were even, with neither side showing too much enterprise.

Then, in a goalmouth scramble where Bury could have claimed the ball on several occasions, they conceded a penalty for a trip on a Stockport striker.

The crucial moment of the first half perhaps was a tremendous 20 yard free kick from Stefan Finch (St Gabriels), which he bent brilliantly, only to see the ball strike the post. A goal then might have made all the difference.

After only three minutes of the second half, a disastrous error by keeper Mark Winder (Woodhey) who otherwise had another excellent game, gifted Stockport a second.

Ten minutes later, poor defensive work resulted in a third goal against.

It seemed more would follow but suddenly the passing improved and the spirit rose and the introduction of lone substitute, Chris Baines (Woodhey), injected energy into the team.

After 15 minutes of attacking play, unseen previously, a lovely move ended with a pin-point cross from Stefan Finch which Chris Baines finished in style.

Sensing a surprise result, Bury pressed forward which was unfortunately their undoing when Stockport broke to add a fourth with three minutes left.
