ST MARY'S A finally clinched the championship of the Bury Amateur Billiards League after gaining the few points that they needed from their match against Dobbies A.

Dobbies A were unable to reproduce the form that the week before had brought them, their third win of the season, but P. Spencer did manage to take a point from the opening game.

G. Farrington and M. Ryder however, were in uncompromising form and each had convincing wins to secure the points required.

Walshaw B tried to maintain the pressure by completing a 6-0 win over St Mary's B for whom only B Woolner managed to reach 100.

Walshaw A played twice last week and picked up ten points. The first was a re-arranged fixture with Dobbies B in which the Walshaw side took all six points.

The second was a much closer affair at Seedfield where the home side took the first two games through N. Butterworth and M. Broadhead respectively.

M. Gilmore however, managed to steal the aggregates points by defeating D. Crook 125-96 in the final game.
