PRESTWICH HEYS 2 AVRO 0: Goals in the 82nd and 89th minutes keep alive Heys' chances of winning the Air Miles Manchester League Premier Division title.

With Irlam winning it still leaves Heys a massive 17 points adrift, but with six games in hand, including Irlam at home, there is still a chance of catching them.

To help achieve that the squad has been furtherstrengthened with the addition of Jason Dormer from Ashton United, who turned down Unibond Premier League racliffe Borough to go to Sandgate.

The game started with the home side nearly taking the lead after two minutes when an excellent cross from Lee Coleridge found John Garrick steaming in at the back post and he planted his header onto the bar.

On 10 minutes Dormer and Kavanagh combined to set up Carl Lomax, whose dipping volley brought a tremendous save out of Taylor in the Avro goal.

For the next 20 minutes the visitors got a grip on the game, bringing an outstanding save out of Tommy Allen.

Heys then got back into it and Garrick, Coleridge and Lomax all went close before half-time.

Heys emerged for the second half in determined mood and immediately had the Avro defenders on the back foot, although getting past the keeper was proving a different matter.

Lomax put Garrick through one-on-one with Taylor, but he won this particular duel.

Heys manager Adie Moran decided to go for broke and introduced an extra forward in the shape of Abbid Uddin.

In the 82nd minute the gamble paid off when John Cunningham carried the ball from deep before finishing in superb fashion, netting his first goal of the season. Seven minutes later Lomax made sure of the win.

HEYS: Allen, Hutchinson, Cunningham, Walters, Doran, Colderidge, Kavanagh, Dormer, Price, Garrick, Lomax. Subs: Roberts, Uddin, Howson.

The reserves had an excellent 3-0 win at Leigh Athletic, courtesy of a Lee Bushall brace and a Jeff Kavanagh free-kick.

The Under 15s had a excellent 8-1 win over Radcliffe Juniors, thanks to goals from Sam Birch, Jordan Harvey, James Bushall (2), Lewis Saunders, Mike Melluis, Liam Wonta, and an own goal.
