BURY Chess Club thirds travelled to Manchester University for a tough game against their first team.
Honours were shared in a drawn match.
J Grant 0-1 Pete Logan; M McDonagh 1-0 Sheraz Khalil; P Rathi 0-1 Paul Mole; G Eleghani 1-0 Steven Press; A Godwin 1-0 Jeremy Peach; P Marks 0.5 Michael Law; default 0-1 Brian Forrest.
The teams meet again at the University next week for a cup semi-final.
The third team then went down to a heavy defeat to a strong Urmston second team, and remain mid-table.
All club members are reminded to complete their club championship games as soon as possible. The AGM has been set for May 24th.
The club meets on Monday and Tuesday evenings at the Bury Sports Club.
Visitors and new players of all ages and standards are very welcome.
