WIGAN Warriors' Great Britain winger Brian Carney will be sidelined for up to six weeks with a knee ligament injury he suffered in the last minute of the thumping victory over Leigh Centurions last Friday.

It is yet another injury blow to Carney and Wigan as the Leigh match was the Irishman's first of 2005 after an operation earlier in the year on his ankle.

Coach Denis Betts said: "Brian will not play for six weeks, he has grade two medial ligament damage.

"Our luck just seems to worsen week in week out, but it is just one of those things.

"He must have done something wrong in a previous life, but that is the nature of the game, it's just the way we are going at the moment."
