WHY can't Ramsbottom Cottage Hospital be used for what it was intended? Lady Aitken donated the hospital to the people of Ramsbottom to be used to their advantage.
Now it is proposed to pull it down and build modern luxury flats, which only the well-to-do will be able to afford to buy.
Wouldn't it be a better idea to open a day care centre for the town's elderly people, maybe from 9-4 each day?
It would give home carers of the elderly and infirm a much-deserved break, even if they had to pay a small fee for the service.
Lady Aitken must be turning in her grave.
