ADULTS with learning difficulties are getting the chance to learn catering skills at the new Darwen Leisure Centre.
Self Unlimited, based in Samlesbury, has arranged for two of its students to join staff in the cafe at the new site.
They will spend differing amounts of time on placement, dependent on their progress, with the aim of eventually gaining skills to enter paid employment.
Jane Martin, area manager for education and employment at Self Unlimited, said: “We have worked at the tea rooms in Witton Park for the last ten years and have been very successful.”
