THE killers of Alan Street have launched appeals against their sentences.
Peter Leonard, 52, formerly of Trinity Street, Oswaldtwistle, and Allan Palmer, 44, formerly of Stockbridge Road, Padiham, are currently serving life sentences with a minimum of 28 years and 25 years respectively.
Leonard was found guilty of the horrific murder of Mr Street, from Oswaldtwistle, following a five week trial in October last year. Palmer pleaded guilty ahead of the trial.
Palmer, who lured convicted rapist Mr Street, 26, back to his house in December 2008, and Leonard, who was said to have a long-standing grudge against his victim, have both lodged appeals.
A spokesman for the Court of Appeal in London confirmed they had received notification of the appeal from Leonard in November and Palmer in December, from Preston Crown Court.
A spokesman for Forbes, which is handling Leonard’s case, declined to comment.
The appeal process can take between six and nine months before it is listed to be heard in open court.
Mr Street was punched, kicked, stamped on and tortured with a pair of scissors and wooden pole.
Co-defendant Kieron Davidson, 21, who was Palmer’s lodger, was given eight years for manslaughter. He has not lodged an appeal.
