FIFTEEN workers fear for their jobs as their bus firm employer is on the verge of administration, union officials said.
Unite union representatives said staff at Omni Coachworks Limited in Blackburn were today handed letters from company bosses saying a meeting with prospective administrators had been arranged for tomorrow.
Workers at Omni, based in Appleby Street, were due to take the letters and sign on for Jobseekers’ Allowance because they expect to be made redundant, the union said.
Unite regional officer John Boughton said he had been told that administrators were due to be called in today because the firm had struggled with orders.
Workers had not been paid since the end of December because of cash-flow issues, he said.
Bob Ince, Omni’s shop floor Unite convenor, said: “We have got people here with mortgages and families to feed so the feeling is at rock bottom."
Omni was formerly part of East Lancashire Coachbuilders before it was spun off on its own several years ago. The firm refurbishes coaches.
