AN unsigned band from East Lancashire which has achieved unprecedented acclaim is looking to break America.

Shakeys Brother made national headlines in November, after being featured in the Lancashire Telegraph, when we revealed the Sabden and Burnley five-piece had been nominated in two Grammy categories.

And while the lads did not head stateside for the Grammys televised finale on Sunday, they have been signed up for a coast-to-coast tour, playing New York, Las Vegas and Chicago.

Blazing a trail across the Mid West might be a long way from the likes of the Accrington Attic or The Grand in Clitheroe.

But vocalist Richard Capstick, 25, said the band was simply taking the latest step, in their meteroric rise, firmly in their stride.

Debut album Into The Sun has already garnered rave reviews for its mix of classic indie pop and summer hooks.

He said: “We are just finalising dates at the moment and we expect to be playing in mid-March to April.

“There will be four legs, California, Arizona, Chicago and New York, and we will be mostly playing universities and clubs.”

Drummer Sam Robinson, 19, a graphic designer, has already proved his commitment to the cause, after handing in his notice to join up with the tour.

The tour has been arranged by their new management, Pink Chancer, which is currently fielding interest from across the industry.

Their last Clitheroe date also saw them support ex-Simple Minds members Derek Forbes and Brian McGee.

Half-time at the recent Burnley and Bolton game was also a coup for the band, which contains three Clarets, one Wanderers fans and a Blackburn supporter, as their song The Boxer was played.

Another deal struck with UK in-store radio stations will see their effort Sweet Girl reverberating around Costa Coffees, Burtons and Co-op stores up and down the land.

Similar arrangements will see the track played in Germany, Australia and the US.
