CHILDREN at a Blackburn primary school have been learning how to fly high thanks to a special lesson by a fighter pilot.
Kitted out with his helmet, face mask and microphone, Bae Systems worker Phil Spencer helped bring another dimension to a group of Year two pupils flying and space project.
The children from Longshaw Infant School, Crosby Road, were shown a DVD about fighter jets, learnt how aeroplanes are able to fly and even turned their hands at making paper planes.
Headteacher Ann Brant, who invited Phil, a friend who she went to school with, to speak to the children said: “The children thought it was wonderful, they were really excited.
“They absolutely loved finding out what it was like to fly.”
