A 63-YEAR-OLD woman has been left traumatised after having her handbag snatched.
Police said the woman was walking along Netherfield Road, near Newfield Drive, Nelson, when the incident happened.
A man approached her from behind and snatched her dark brown leathette handbag, containing £400 in cash and personal belongings.
Following the theft at around 10.55am on Friday, the offender ran off in the direction of Newfield Drive and was last seen at the Barkerhouse Road railway crossing junction.
He is described as being around 20 years-old, 5ft 7ins tall, slim with short dark hair.
He was wearing a bright white jacket elasticated at the waist and light coloured bottoms.
