THE founder of one of Darwen’s biggest taxi firms has died, aged 45.
Rob Davidson, of Gordon Street, set up Chippy’s Taxis, in Railway Road, 10 years ago and employed 30 people. He died of a heart attack October 8 and leaves a widow, Debbie, children Danny and Rob, and four grandchildren.
He was an active member of Darwen Masonic Lodge and enjoyed swimming and fishing.
Friend Darren Needham said: “He was a tower of strength to his family and friends and much-loved by many people.
He was a man of his own ways and views who would never back down.
"He was a good man who had proven himself to his peers and achieved a great deal and never wanted any false respect.”
