YOUNG people from Darwen have transformed their estates with a community clean-up.
The event in the Ellenshaw area was to remove litter and promote community cohesion.
It was organised by environmental charity Groundwork Pennine Lancashire which runs the local youth programme Reachout.
Twin Valley Homes provided pickers and disposal of waste with Sudellside Community Association, and local Community Support Officers also took part in the clean-up.
“The young people involved have volunteered their services to do something great for the community,”said Rachael Ray, youth project officer at Groundwork.
“It shows they are conscious of their environment and are trying to improve it and I think they should be recognised for this”.
