MEMBERS of a campaign group were shouting their message from the mountains as they climbed Britain’s highest peak.

Members of the Make Blackburn Safer group completed a charity trek up Ben Nevis to raise awareness for their campaign as well as vital funds for Headway Brain Injury Association and Macmillan Cancer Support.

The group of eleven celebrated at the 4,406ft peak with a specially made banner provided by Tatlow Signs in Copy Nook.

Organiser Kirk Bullen said the group were ‘very proud’ of their achievement and hoped to have raised around £2,000.

He said: “The main aim was to get everyone up and down safely and we did that.

“When you get to the top you feel every step, but it was worth it. We spent 30 minutes on the summit surrounded by gale force winds.

“Everyone was remem-bering what they were doing the climb for.”

The sponsorship total was boosted by £800 collected in Blackburn town centre by Tez Valli and Scott Barnes, as well as £75 from Great Harwood Windows.
