AN APPEAL has been made for the owner of a brave pooch to come forward after the dog was involved in an accident.

The male black and tan German shepherd is being treated for a broken leg at the Myerscough Veterinary Surgery, Longsight Road, Clayton-le-Dale, following a road accident in Ribchester Road, Wilpshire, last Tuesday evening.

Claire Shaw, senior small animal vet, said the dog would remain in an isolation unit at Aspen Valley Kennels, Oswaldtwistle, until his rightful owner was found.

She said: “He has a silver choke chain around his neck and he was not in a bad condition which makes me think that he comes from a good home.

“It seems like he just ran into the road. He was nervous when he first came in but he is becoming calmer with all the love and attention he is receiving.

“We urge anybody who recognises him to come forward.”

The vet also praised Hyndburn Stray Dogs which is picking up the £1,000 bill.

She added: “They are absolutely fantastic. We have had several dogs bought in with serious injuries and they have always paid for the treatment. They are a tremendous charity.”
