A MAN falsely labelled a paedophile says the ongoing battle to clear his name could kill him.

Bryan Davies, 63, has just returned from a two-week holiday after hitting the headlines last month.

Mr Davies, of Emma Street, Accrington, and his wife Debbie, 44, have been the victims of a hate campaign in their neighbourhood after Mr Davies was falsely accused of sexually assaulting two young girls.

Police who investigated the claims and quickly dismissed them, sent out hundreds of leaflets to residents in a bid to stop constant vigilante attacks.

However, Mr Davies, who suffered a stroke from the stress of his ordeal, claims that within 15 minutes of arriving home on Thursday evening, the ‘vile abuse’ started again and a brick was thrown at his window.

He said: “I was putting the trailer tent away and the shouts of ‘paedophile’ came down the back alley.

“The police were called, but they said they couldn’t do anything about it and it was suggested the only way we’d get any respite would be to move.

“We’ve got to move out of the area because the police are not willing to prosecute these girls or tackle the people intimidating us.

“I will not be intimidated and we can’t move because we’ve not been in the house for six months.

“I won’t give in. It’ll probably kill me, but I won’t run away with my tail between my legs.”

Mr Davies said he has considered moving, claiming the leaflet drop to residents has not had the desired affect.

“The number of incidents dropped because of increased police presence.

"If the girls had been prosecuted, none of this would be going on.”

Accrington Sgt Simon Lynch said: “If we get reports of anti-social behaviour then we’ll investigate.

"If there’s evidence we can use use to help detain and run them through the criminal justice system, we’ll not hesitate.”
