A MOTHER has spoken of her devastation after her only son was left on a life-support machine following a crash.

Tyrone Bridges, of Clitheroe, was injured when his Yamaha bike collided with a Mercedes articulated lorry on Tuesday.

The 37-year-old suffered serious head injuries on the A671 Whalley Road, Padiham, near to its junction with Barrowford Road, at 1.10pm.

The former Ribblesdale High School pupil was rushed to Royal Blackburn Hospital where he remains in intensive care.

His mother Patricia, who lives in Cross Street in the town, said she had been left devastated.

The 64-year-old, who shares her home with her son, described the moment she heard he had been involved in a crash.

She said: “I was doing some shopping when I heard that he had been in an accident. It was terrible.

“I went straight to the hospital with my neighbour and he just looked awful.”

Mr Bridges, who is a builder and has a 16-year-old son, Jordan, is also being treated for a broken arm and stomach injuries.

Mrs Bridges, added: “I feel terrible and I just keeping praying that he is going to come through.

“He’s a lovely son and he’s loved motorbikes since he was very young but every time he went out I would get worried that he might have a crash.”

The 71-year-old man who was driving the lorry was not injured.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
