BOSSES at a Nelson double-glazing firm came to the rescue of a burglary victim after she could not afford new windows.
Safestyle UK were touched by the plight of the 73-year-old woman who lost £600 in the raid.
She had planned to use the savings for new windows but thought she would have to cancel her order after the break-in.
Steve Birmingham, the firm’s managing director, said: “We were deeply saddened to hear about this elderly lady suffering a burglary and having such a large amount of money stolen from her home.
“Anyone who’s had the unfortunate experience of having their home broken into knows how intimidated and scared you can end up feeling in your own home.
“With this in mind, we felt it was right to replace this lady’s plain glass windows with our secure uPVC double-glazing free of charge.”
The woman said the burglary had left her “shaken” and paid tribute to the company for their generosity.
