A PSYCHIC has predicted Burnley will survive their first season in the Premier League.

Dean “Midas” Maynard last year confounded critics by forecasting minnows Stoke would beat the drop to spend a second year in England’s top flight.

And now he has delivered the news all Clarets fans, who are still flushed with excitement at Burnley’s unexpected promotion, wanted to hear.

The Durham-based psychic, dubbed the Simon Cowell of the clairvoyant world, said he had a “gut feeling” Burnley would finish 17th or higher next season.

He said: “Last year I got laughed at by all and sundry for predicting Stoke would survive but I think the same will happen with Burnley this year.

“I have just got a gut feeling about Burnley this year and I would not stick my neck out if I didn’t think it would happen.

“It is going to be tough but I think they have enough to survive.”

In 2006, Dean also predicted the success of X Factor winner Leona Lewis and last year tipped Torquay United and Blyth Spartans to cause upsets in the FA Cup.

Dean has also received national acclaim for his ability to predict, bring good luck and support a number of high profile celebrities and sports teams. His other high-profile cases include the campaign to restore David Beckham to the England team.

Dean said: “It’s deja vu because Burnley are 8/13 favourites to get relegated just like Stoke were last year.

“I am a down to earth normal lad who has the ability to produce results and I am positive that it will continue with Burnley staying in the Premier League come May.”

Clarets fans will hope Dean’s “gut feeling” is spot on when the team open their Premier League campaign away at Stoke on August 15.

Then on August 19, champions Manchester United make the trip to Turf Moor.
