WORSTHORNE residents travelling home to the village will be safer when road safety improvements in the Brunshaw Avenue and Lyndhurst Road areas are completed.
Police have proposed traffic calming and 20mph zones be introduced to these areas to cut accidents.
Between December 2003 and November 2008 there were 11 collisions in the Brunshaw Avenue area and 23 in the Lyndhurst Road area.
The design work on the Brunshaw Avenue scheme will need to be re-assessed following Burnley Football Club’s promotion and its traffic implications will be undertaken by the county council's highways Burnley office over the summer with public consultation likely to take place later this year.
