A BURNLEY pensioner has celebrated a landmark birthday by raising more than £500 for charity.
Keen golfer Jack Lord held an event at Nelson House in honour of turning 80 recently.
He invited golfers and their wives from six local golf clubs to join him and his family and friends in the celebrations.
Guests helped raise a total of £532.50 for Pendleside Hospice, based at Reedley, by making donations.
Mr Lord is well known in East Lancashire having played golf since the early 1960s and is a member of Burnley Golf Club.
Fundraising assistant Clare Richards said: “On behalf of everyone at Pendleside Hospice I would like to thank Jack and his guests who helped raise funds for their local hospice.
“Without the support of the community the hospice would not be able to provide care to people of Burnley and Pendle.”
