A MAN who brandished a knife at another man outside an industrial unit in Blackburn has been jailed for two years.

Craig Litherland turned up at the scene agitated and angry, demanding to be re-imbursed with £80.

He claimed that a woman, whom the victim knew through a third party, had taken money from him.

Litherland told the man: "You had better give me the money or else".

At one point, he even climbed into the man's Range Rover and started to move off in the vehicle.

Litherland, 24, of Whalley New Road, Blackburn pleaded guilty to charges of affray and having an offensive weapon.

His arrest followed an incident outside a unit at Crossfold, Blackburn, in January.

Richard Hunt, prosecuting, said the victim had been at his unit and was locking up that morning when the defendant appeared, agitated and angry.

He demanded to be reimbursed for £80, saying that a woman the man knew had taken it from him.

Litherland was described as ranting and raving, screaming and shouting.

He went on to brandish a knife with a five or six inch blade. He kept saying "I want the money", said the prosecution.

Litherland went on to jump into the man's Range Rover and drove it away.

The owner felt that it was driven towards him, making him move out of the way.

He was arrested at Cherry Lodge and told police he had wanted his money back.

Gerard Doran, defending, said Litherland had been under the influence of drugs when he behaved in a threatening way.

He had perceived the other man might be financially linked to a woman he thought had taken money from him.
