A SAFETY scheme to protect motorists and pedestrians on one of Colne’s roads has been launched by the county council.
Work on the Barrowford Road scheme, which is due to begin in September will see anti-skid surfaces, 13 sets of speed cushions, and audible surfaces to divert drivers from possible hazards.
It is hoped that these improvements aim to help reduce traffic speeds, improve road safety and make it easier for people to cross the road.
County Coun Keith Young, cabinet member for highways and transport, said: “This scheme is a key part of the county council's plans to improve road safety in the area.
“The measures we're putting in place should help motorists to drive at safe speeds and make it much easier for pedestrians to cross the road.
“We will make every effort to keep disruption to a minimum while the work takes place.”
The work will last two weeks.
