THIRTEEN colleagues who scooped £3.9million on the lottery three months ago are still at their jobs and working harder than ever, according to the boss.

Staff at Altham engineering firm ASK Rewind shared in the jackpot but in the months since the victory none of the staff have splashed out – and instead have decided to keep working.

Andy Whitaker, 44, the boss of the firm, said the publicity of the win meant the firm had been “busier than ever” and none of his staff has decided to leave.

Mr Whitaker’s wife Jayne was in the syndicate, which was organised by his father Arthur, 79.

He said: “I’ve paid off the mortgage on our semi-detached house in Padiham and we are planning some home improvement as well as a Mediterranean cruise.

“A lot of the other staff have bought a car or are going on holiday, nothing flash. Some haven’t even spent any of the money.

“My dad has bought a new set of dentures.

“The Lotto win has been fantastic but it hasn’t changed us as people and we all like working here. It’s a very close-knit company.”

Mr Whitaker said several members of staff had inquired about investing in the firm, which specialises in repairing and rewinding motors.

Each member of the syndicate collected around £300,000 from the Lotto win in early March. Just five members of staff at the company were not in the syndicate.

Mr Whitaker added: “I like to think this is a good place to work and that is why no-one has left.

“We have a laugh but we also work hard.

“We are probably working harder now because there are so many orders coming in.

"It is manic here at the moment because we’ve got a lot of new customers.”

The winners were Andy, Arthur and Jayne Whitaker, Kieron McNamara, Peter Lewis, Michael Keegan, Garry Sherringham, Steve Goodyear, Jimmy Ostle, Liz Hollins and June McSherry.
