A MEDICAL equipment company is moving to a new site as it continues to experience strong orders for its products.

Prestige Medical is moving out of its current site in Clarendon Road, Roe Lee, Blackburn, to a larger and more modern industrial unit at the town’s growing Shadsworth Business Park.

The move will safeguard approximately 60 jobs at the firm.

Prestige Medical specialises in the manufacturing of sterilisation machines known as autoclaves.

These are the size of a microwave and used in hospitals to make sure that equipment such as scalpels are infection free after use.

Managing director Ian Starkey said: “We have a programme of continuous improvement and strive to ensure that Prestige Med-ical products consistently provide the best solutions for infecion control.

“Our products are sold all around the world and we are delighted that, even in the current difficult economic climate, we are continuing to increase business and have now outgrown our old factory unit.

“The new premises are conveniently located just off the M65 motorway and we look forward to welcoming customers old and new to our new site East House.”

The firm’s current home is a former mill in the Roe Lee area which has been earmarked for housing following Prestige Medical’s departure.

Over the past few years the company has seen strong demand in the US for its products and is an East Lancashire success story.

The new address will be East House, Duttons Way, Shadsworth, Business Park, Blackburn.

And the firm has been able to retain its existing contact numbers.

The move to the new site is scheduled to take place over a weekend in the middle of the month.
