CHILDREN had a taste of what life is like for police officers when they went to their local station.
Organised by Sergeant Tim Cussans, from Padiham Police, year one and reception children at St Peter’s C of E School, Simonstone, took fingerprints, had mug shots taken and carried out recorded police interviews with each another.
The children, who were encouraged to dress up as police officers by teachers, also had a tour of the cells, played with the police sirens, were given fictitious cautions and role- played front-desk inquires.
The children, who have created a police station in the school, were learning about different roles people have in society.
Jacqueline Booth, reception and year one teacher, said: “It was absolutely wonderful, Sergeant Cussans and his team went all out for us.
"We couldn’t have asked for anything better for the children, they really got to experience the police life.”
