THE leader of a borough’s Liberal Democrats has criticised Rossendale and Darwen MP Janet Anderson for failing to attend a parliamentary vote on fuel poverty.

Coun David Foster, who is also deputy leader of Blaxckburn with Darwen Council, said the Bill aimed at ending fuel poverty was blocked by the Government because only 89 MPs turned up to support it.

He said: “This is a crying shame. With millions of people across Britain struggling to afford to heat their homes, this Bill is desperately needed.

“With such a narrow margin of failure, it is really disappointing that our local MP Janet Anderson was in Parliament but failed to vote for this important Bill.”
