PLANS for a £12m leisure centre in Darwen is on track but council bosses will review the development again in September.

Councillors have revealed that the Darwen Leisure Centre development will be ready for its December opening.

But Blackburn with Darwen Council’s sustainable neighbourhoods overview and scrutiny committe, which met last week, asked that Darwen and Rural Neighbourhood Board visit the site to inspect the progress.

The scruitiny committee said councillors will inspect the internal building on the next visit.

The centre, which was first proposed on two sites during the Labour adminstration, will feature a 25m swimming pool with a moveable floor, spectator seating, fitness suite, health suite, sports hall, café and changing facilities.
