NEW plans to make a Grade I listed land-mark the centrepiece of Todmorden have been unveiled.
Public consultation has taken place over proposals to renovate Todmorden Town Hall and a feasibility study has been drawn up by a development group, established for the landmark project.
Plans are being put forward to increase the community and council use of the facility, which is currently used for big events.
This could include providing an improved performance space, new conference facilities and better catering services.
English Heritage officials have contributed to the development group’s workings and a conservation study will run alongside the redevelopment efforts.
Coun Ian Cooper, chairman of Todmorden Town Hall Development Group and a ward councillor, said: “We have listened to people’s ideas and now want to provide full and more frequent access for all to this treasure of the town.”
