EAST Lancashire will have more then £100million pumped into its health service when all its projects have been completed.

NHS East Lancashire has invested £60million into the area and has a further £40million in the pipeline to bring its facilities into the 21st century.

In addition to the new builds in Burnley, Hyndburn, Rossendale, Pendle and the Ribble Valley, plans to refurbish and revitalise a number of clinics and centres was also revealed.

In an estates strategy report to NHS East Lancashire’s board members, both investment and future plans were outlined by estates associate director David Peers.

He announced the architectural plans were nearing completion for the £12 million new community hospital in Clitheroe.

Mr Peers also highlighted progress reports on the £20million investment plan to build new health centres in Colne and Great Harwood.

The sites in Colne town centre, and the old Albion Mill near Great Harwood’s existing health centre have now been purchased.

He reported that work was “ahead of schedule” in building the new £12 million Rossendale Health Hub on the site of the old Tomilnson’s Footwear Factory on Bacup Road, Rawtenstall.
